Fonte Pergolla came back to life with as a plant comes into the world: slowly, quietly and waiting for the right season to bloom.

The Casale is nourished by this spirit, by the slowness of nature.
And at the same time, like an oak, it is its solidity that makes it resistant to the roughness of the elements above time.
The restoration of the Casale
Casale Fonte Pergolla is also the evidence of a rebirth. The rebirth of its owner, who deeply wanted it.
The restoration of the Casale was long and tiring, set in a difficult historical period, but it was also a journey.
The journey of Giuseppe, who saw it for the first time when it was no more than a ruin and imagined it exactly as it has became today.
The immense redevelopment work of the Casale Fonte Pergolla is the result of a precise research and extraordinary teamwork.
The final objective was to create something unique due to its singularity and irreproducibility.
It has been a work made on purpose in total contrast and opposition with the industrial product.
At work!
The farmhouse was in a truly disastrous condition when the works began. In fact, over the years it had been totally abandoned.
All the beams of the farmhouse both of the roof and of the ceilings were covered with thick layers of lime and varnish.
To bring back to light the beauty and authenticity of the natural chestnut wood of the 19th century beams, an enormous sandblasting job was done.
Then, to maintain the old attic, a consolidation work was done with electro-welded mesh and steel rods fixed in the walls. It is now, all hidden under the first floor screed.
GLI ARREDI
As for the furnishings, Giuseppe was only able to recover one door from the original set up.
Now, once restored it became part of the current furnishings and has been transformed into the door of one of the wardrobes.

Everything that is now part of the furnitures of Casale Fonte Pergolla, is the result of tiring but also stimulating research in markets, antique shops and the restoration of “old things”.
Many of the pieces of furniture are ethnics and antiques such as the ancient door from Morocco that was restored by Giuseppe himself, or such as the console in the lower reading room that is completed with antique Balinese window doors.
All the stones present in the Casale come from Trani.
Let’s talk about the floor, the fireplace and the bathrooms.
They all come from the historic Musicco quarry in Trani and they are all pieces cut from a unique block of stone specially chosen by Giuseppe after 4 inspections.
The Team
Today the Casale can shine again thanks to Giuseppe’s will and to the professionalism and dedication of a wonderful team.
Craftsmen and professionals dedicated themself for months to get to this wonderful result!

In fact, between how it was and how it is right now, there are months and months of hard work, passion and a lot of effort.

The Stone Bathtub
An example of a great coordination and planning is the bathtub located downstairs that is carved by craftsmen from a single block of stone.
It is therefore a single block of stone and weighs almost 1000 kg.
The workers had to place it in the Casale before putting on the roof, lifting it with a crane!

The Result
To create the stone/oak mosaic in the living areas of the whole Casale, three talented craftsmen worked tighter doing a painstaking, complex, and unrepeatable job!
It is thanks to the qualified and professional work that, as in a metaphor of rebirth, the Casale Fonte Pergolla has embarked on a slow, inexorable and fortunate path back to life !
